Installing DoD certificates can cure most issues
With the exception of downloading the ActivClient software below, you can use the notes page for a successful CAC installation on your personal computer.
PLEASE NOTE: The download site I had for the Coast Guard no longer works. If you are in the Coast Guard and know where to download the software from, please share it with me to share with your fellow Coast Guardsmen.
There is a fix for the 144K CAC card not working on your computer. Contact your IT support and have TISCOM tech bulletin 341 run on your machine. This will install ActiveClient 6.2. Afterwards, you will log back on to the computer, open Internet Explorer go to tools->Internet Options->Content->Certificates -- highlight all the certificates in the personal tab and delete them, Reboot the computer.
Instructions for accessing USCG OWA are available here
If you only want to use your CAC to logon to a CAC enabled sites (and not use DTS), you may want to consider using LPS (Lightweight Portable Security)
If you have a PIV II compliant CAC (back shows: "Gemalto TOP DL GX4 144K" or "Oberthur ID One 128 v5.5 Dual") and you are running Windows 7, you may be able to use your CAC without any middleware.
You may purchase ActivClient 6.2 (Works with Windows 7, Vista, & XP) from the following vendors: Envoy Data Corporation for $65.00 SCB Solutions for $59.75 TXSystems for $68.00 |
